External links and resources for Hugh Leonard

The literary estate of Hugh Leonard is represented by The Agency (London) Ltd.

Internet Movie Database. This is the standard on-line resource for television and film.  The entry for Hugh Leonard lists most (but… not quite all) of his work for the screen.  There is a substantial level of detail available for most programmes, including on individual episodes of series and serials.

The Dictionary of Irish Biography has a detailed entry for, and critical evaluation of, Hugh Leonard.

Hugh Leonard’s papers were donated to the National Library of Ireland.  The catalogue entry is here.

Irish Playography’s entry for Hugh Leonard cites the plays, their first productions and cast members.

The Ebsco “research starter” includes a short but useful bibliography.

About Dalkey ; Hugh Leonard is particularly associated with his home town of Dalkey – located at the southern tip of Dublin bay.  Here’s a selection of links about the town.

  1. I am trying to find a copy of “Insurrection” for my grandad. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. x

  2. Hi Stephanie. I believe that Insurrection still exists in the RTE archives – which is a great survival as very few TV recordings survive anywhere from the 1960s. But it has never been made available for sale in video or DVD format and it pre-dates home videos. At various times, one has been able to see clips on the RTE archive site. You could write to RTE suggesting that they repeat Insurrection in 2016! Thanks for enquiry. I will write an article for the site on Insurrection.
    Best wishes Danielle
